As we all navigate these changes and the evolving situation, we want you to know that MBCC is here to provide support and advice. We are suspending all membership renewals for existing members for 90 days. If you are an existing member and your membership expires during this time, there is no need to take action. We will automatically extend your membership 90-days.
We are also offering free 90-day memberships to new members. Stay tuned for details on how to take advantage of the free 90-day membership.
The purpose of this survey is to help the MBCC determine whether its members were able to receive funding or grants and what support they may have received from banks or other organizations.

Montgomery County’s Telework Assistance Fund – Opens May 6 at 10 am
- Grants are available up to $2500 for nonprofits and businesses.
- On a weekly basis, approved/eligible grant applications will be awarded through a lottery process.
- Applicants not receiving funding during the first week will remain eligible for the remaining weekly lotteries until funding is exhausted.
- MCEDC plans to notify awardees within 2-3- days after each of the lotteries.

Maryland has authorized $130 million in loan and grant funding for small businesses and manufacturers that have been negatively impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This emergency assistance provides interim relief and proceeds that can be used to pay cash operating expenses including payroll, suppliers, rent, fixed debt payments and other mission-critical cash operating costs.
If you are a Maryland-based business impacted by the Coronavirus with under 50 full- and part-time employees, or a Maryland manufacturer, check out the program below to see if you qualify for assistance.
- Maryland COVID-19 Emergency Relief Manufacturing Fund – This $5 million incentive program helps Maryland manufacturers to produce personal protective equipment (PPE) that is urgently needed by hospitals and health-care workers across the country. More details are expected to be announced by Friday, March 27, 2020.
Payments Begin for County Public Health Emergency Grant Program

Baltimore County Grants
Baltimore County has allocated $10 million in new grant funding to help Baltimore County’s small businesses, plus $100,000 for stipends to individual artists!!!

The Mayor’s Office recently announced the COVID-19 Small Business Assistance Initiative, which establishes the COVID-19 Small Business Task Force, a public-private partnership, and a $5.5 million fund to provide financial assistance to small businesses, as well as other resources and guidelines to help businesses reopen, without compromising public health, once the State of Emergency is lifted. Information about eligibility requirements and the application process will be available on May 4. More information about the initiative can be found here.
Hyattsville to split $1M pandemic fund between nonprofits, business grants
Hyattsville City Council approved a coronavirus pandemic relief fund allocating $1 million from city funds to go to a mix of local nonprofits and city business grant programs. Measure passed 9-2 with councilors Joseph Solomon and Edouard Haba voting against during Hyattsville’s May 4, 2020, City Council meeting. If all goes according to plan, Hyattsville residents and businesses will be able to apply for emergency city relief funds by June 1, 2020.
The Prince George’s County COVID19 Business Relief Fund is a $15M fund established to provide financial assistance to businesses affected by the COVID-19 crisis. The Relief Fund can be used to support cash operating expenses including payroll, suppliers, rent, fixed debt payments and other business critical cash operating costs.

SDAT Announces 14 New Online Services, Nearly All Business Filings Can Now Be Completed Online
The Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT) today announced 14 new online services on Maryland Business Express (businessexpress.maryland.gov) that will make it significantly easier for businesses to get back into “Good Standing” status, a requirement necessary for many types of Coronavirus-related relief. Some of these new online filing options are for businesses needing to revive, and the Department is waiving any related online expedited fees to help Marylanders keep their businesses active.
Seven of the new online services will be particularly helpful for business owners who are just now realizing their business is not in Good Standing status. Maryland Corporations, LLCs, LLPs, and LPs; and Foreign (non-Maryland) Corporations and LLCs may now revive or dissolve their businesses online, and the Department is waiving the online expedited fee for these filings until 30 days after the State of Emergency is rescinded. If a Maryland business requests a certified copy of this filing at checkout, that expedited fee will also be waived. Penalty payments owed to the Department may also now be paid online, which is another reason businesses often are not in Good Standing status.

Our nation’s small businesses are facing an unprecedented economic disruption due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. On Friday, March 27, 2020, the President signed into law the CARES Act, which contains $376 billion in relief for American workers and small businesses.
In addition to traditional SBA funding programs, the CARES Act established several new temporary programs to address the COVID-19 outbreak.

Details: The Coronavirus Care Fund was established by the National Domestic Workers Alliance to provide emergency assistance for home care workers, nannies, and house cleaners to support them in staying safe and staying home to slow the spread of the coronavirus, and to care for themselves and their families. Qualifying applicants who are experiencing financial hardship due to the coronavirus pandemic can receive $400 in emergency assistance from the Fund.

SheaMoisture Community Commerce Fund by Shea Moisture

Details: SheaMoisture announces a $1 million fund to support entrepreneurs of color and small businesses, driven by its long-established Community Commerce business model. Details: Samuel Adams and the Greg Hill Foundation are bringing the successful Restaurant Strong Fund to 20 total states to aid the restaurant workers impacted by COVID-19 closures.
Thrive Market COVID-19 Relief Fund by Thrive Market
Available Funding: $150 Grocery Stipend / Household
Details: Thrive Market has launched the Thrive Market COVID-19 Fund to provide grocery stipends and free 1-year Thrive Market Membership to those in need. This applies to medical professionals, first responders, at-risk community individuals, and elderly citizens who may be immobilized.

Details: This Sony fund will provide support for medical and first responders, children and educators, and the creative entertainment industry.

Details: Lowes is committing $3 million to support local small businesses, particularly skilled trade professionals, to continue operating through the COVID-19 pandemic
